3D Ship images, the early concepts

Hi guys,

This week we’ve seen the launch of the Ion Bomber images so I was taking a look through our AE Achieves and found something interesting to share with you.  Back in 2007 Wizard started to look at the possibility of bringing ship images into the game. He approached a freelance artist, friend of a friend to do up some early concepts to see if it would work. A couple of years later that freelance artist would be working for AE doing our 3D ship images! It was Luis btw ;-)

So I found those early concept images for the Battleship, Dreadnought and Fleet Carrier and thought I would share them with you today. 

I also found one other ditty which had all but been lost, a piece of near finished artwork with the original Dreadnought design and I must say it was pretty awesome too!  Enjoy!


In game news there has been a bit of a furore over the new changes to fleet detection. Feedback has been, well, active with many players sharing their thoughts. Not had your say yet? Then why not get involved? Find details of the updates here.

Further in game news Wizard has added the Ion Bomber 3D images ingame. Very nice if I do say so myself though you all already know that as you saw it last week! Keep watching the blog for the next image, the scout ship in the coming weeks!
