Another ten centuries (100 days) have passed since the completion of our last historical transcript, so it is time that the story of the Vilani Empire is continued for our latest citizens. The beginning of the third age was full of jubilation. The past, namely the wars with BORG were at an end. However it would  soon became apparent that our joy for somewhat naive… however I shall come to that in due course.

In the early days of the third age the Vilani Empire's power base was expanding. Nearly 100 new member systems joined the senate mainly throughout the B30-32 galaxies. Sadly many of these systems no longer reside in Vilani but many do and have proven themselves as loyal members of The Empire. This influx of new territories moved the centre of The Empire's power from the old B01 galaxy to B31. With this it was even discussed moving the Imperial Capitol to one of these newer worlds, but this idea was eventually rejected opting to keeping the capitol in B01 on the planet of Vland.

The peaceful development of The Empire continued with little incident. There was a short conflict with the small empire 8472 following a series of attacks on Vilani worlds. The conflict lasted no more than 16 hours, but none the less the righteous vengeance of The Empire's military was swift and hit back at our attackers. Peace was later declared.

In this same time the Emperor and his new Imperial Council, still headed by the Prime Minister strengthened relations with the CABAL. The Vilani Prime Minister, Earthsphere Alliance was elected the first High Chancellor of the CABAL and continues to serve that duty along with his duties as Prime Minister. The federation of MAUI was also admitted into the CABAL at this same time.

Late one evening the Emperor’s sleep was disrupted with news from the edges of The Empire. Communications from outlining Vilani posts suggested BORG where moving. Within several hours similar communications where coming from other empires, namely Grey Swords (xGSx), Legion (LGN) and the Hungarian Alliance (HUN). Following a day of sporadic fighting an official communication arrived from BORG and their allies MORDOR. MORDOR had declared war on the guild of xGSx while BORG in an attempt to hold off support had declared war on any and all allies of xGSx’s.

There was great confusion in the senate. The Empire had once held an alliance with xGSx’s however it was cancelled decades before following their refusal to assist The Empire in the second war with BORG. Following further communications with BORG it became apparent that xGSx’s had not removed The Empire from their alliance listing.

While fighting continued on the edge of The Empire the final decision was taken to remove The Empire from the war as we should never have been involved in the first place, more over to protect those new systems still growing in the B3x galaxies. The decision was not met well by several of The Empire's allies, most particularly Crimson Mercenaries (CM) whom declared war on BORG soon after we left the conflict.

In the end this war was lost for the side of Vilani’s allies, BORG successfully dividing and conquering the guilds that had fought united in the last Beta war. To many this war is remembered as ‘Vilani’s dishonour’. Following the surrender of many of those whom fought along side The Travellers (=T=) in the second Beta war secret communications began to pass between empires. The galactic senate received such communications themselves including detailed plans for BORG and their allies’ next war, a conflict which was being dubbed as 'the final war'.

Of those guilds with the strength to oppose BORG only two offered sufficient power to truly challenge them… these guilds where 13th Wolf Guard (13th) and The Travelers. BORG and their allies Astroholics Anonymous (AA)  and MORDOR were planning an end-game to take these two guilds down in the same way they took down xGSx’s and their allies.

Further communications between the CABAL voted to enter the conflict if =T= or 13th were attacked in the way they was described. In preparation for the attack Vilani was placed on high alert and waited. At the 11th hour however the attack never came, AA breaking away from the plan and turning instead to attack the GOONtion (GOON) with the Brotherhood (BRO).

War was averted, or so it was believed. Later that evening the Emperor and his Council were called into an emergency session. Long range scanners of The Empire were picking up large scale battles between the forces of AA and 13th. The details where sketchy but it appeared that 13th were the initiators of the conflict launching a full scale invasion of AA space.

Continuous communications took place over the next few days confirming that the war had begun. With their fleets distracted with GOON 13th had decided to attack AA when they were distracted, something =T=’s leaders referred to as ‘Jumping the gun’. At this time the CABAL withdraw their support for the conflict unsure who were the real aggressors any longer. The leader of =T= requested a personal meeting with the CABAL council.

The meeting took place on Vland as the battle raged elsewhere in the galaxy. Before the meeting Poitin, high leader of =T= declared war from his room following BORG and multiple other alliances declaring war on 13th. The meeting was heated, representatives of The Hands of God (THoG) angered by what they saw as a betrayal by =T= and their allies. In this meeting clear evidence was offered proving =T=’s claims that BORG and AA were planning a full scale attack. Following Poitins audience with the council several days of discussions continued until it was decided to move none the less.

The reason for this decision was three fold. First, in the pervious war =T= refused to abandon CABAL when BORG threatened the peace over our inclusion in the treaty. Second, the evidence showed clear proof of the planned attack regardless of the way it actually started and third, if =T= and 13th fell, BORG would destroy CABAL.

The Emperor offered the CABAL’s formal declaration soon after that of our allies LGN. The Empire's fleets took flight scoring dozens of victories across the universe in a matter of weeks.

"To all Galactic Citizens and Sentient Beings,

Today, it is my sad duty to bring tidings of war to the Empire. Yesterday, the CABAL Council met for a three-hour long closed session, in which we spoke to Poitin of the Travellers [=T=]. During this discussion, it was decided that CABAL would join the current Galactic War on the side of the Travellers, the 13th Wolfguards, our allies the Legion, and other guilds against the menace of the AA/Borg/Zerg/Blood/[•Æon•]/RFC/Mordor coalition, referred henceforth as the Bloodpact.

There were many reasons for this decision. As many of you know, CABAL was originally formed to fight the Borg menace, which was responsible for widespread piracy and aggression against our allies and ourselves. We sought to show the Borg the foolishness of their ways, and get them to change their policies of aggression. Unfortunately, we were severely outnumbered and outgunned. We were unable to get the Borg to change their ways, and they have continued their acts of piracy and aggression up until this very day, against many small guilds and independents.

Their last war, against our former allies the Grey Swords, proved that the Bloodpact will attack and seek to destroy any guild or alliance of guilds which comes even close to threatening their dominance of the astropolitic in the Betaverse. They would surely seek to divide and conquer every guild in this game, which is why AA and BRO have attempted to destroy the GOON guilds. They also persistently farm and destroy many smaller guilds, who are below the 50th guild rank.

It has come to the attention of CABAL that, even while they were fighting 13th and =T=, the Bloodpact were plotting to have their allies, The Spartan Empire [Myrm], launch an attack against the CABAL. At the last minute, they decided to instead join the current war on the side of the Bloodpact, for they were not doing as well as they’d hoped. The plan to attack the CABAL was postponed to a later time, when they would be in a better position to receive support from their allies.

At this same time, a spy was discovered, isolated and removed from our allies, the Legion [LGN]. Mere hours after being discovered, this spy proved his loyalties by joining a Bloodpact member.

The final factor involved in the upcoming declaration of war was a debt owed to the Travellers and the 13th Wolfguards from our last great war against the Bloodpact. The Bloodpact had threatened to keep CABAL permanently KOS’d, never letting us have peace until we were destroyed. Thankfully, the Travellers and 13th Wolfguards chose not to abandon us to this fate, and pledged that they would not sign a peace treaty unless all guilds fighting at the time were included in it. Because of this, we were able to achieve a white peace with the Bloodpact, despite our heavy losses. If it weren’t for the help of 13th and =T=, the CABAL may not have survived.

So now the time has come for the CABAL to raise arms against the Bloodpact to stop their reign of terror over the Betaverse! As of Server Time: 17-04-2007 19:00:00, the CABAL hereby declares war against the Bloodpact members of Mordor, RFC, and [•Æon•]. [~VE~] The Vilani Empire and [ThoG] The Hand of God also declare war on Zerg, whom the other CABAL members have an NDP with. We fight so that chaos, piracy and terror shall NOT rule the Betaverse.

To honor, to glory, to victory!
Long live the CABAL!
Long live Ziru Sirka!

Signed,
Lucan Ziirushid XII of Vland
Emperor of the Vilani Empire"

At first CABAL declared war on ZERG, MORDOR, Royal Flying Coup (RFC) and AEON. Within the week AA and The Blood Pact (BLOOD) formally declared war on Vilani, and Vilani alone. As the largest member of the CABAL it was clear that AA and BLOOD looked to force the alliances largest member to surrender. Other members of the CABAL prepared to declare war, however at the request of the Emperor the other CABAL guilds remained out of the war with AA and BLOOD. The Emperor felt that with the other CABAL guilds focusing on AEON and ZERG they could be easily forced out of the conflict. Further, with the memory of our withdrawal from the xGSx conflict firmly in the Emperors mind, he could prove once again to our allies the worth of the Vilani sword.

As the conflict appeared to be reaching an end, The Empires soldier’s victorious, doubt was thrown across the stars as the SAS, what was a sub-guild of GOON declared war in support of BORG. In the same evening BRO2, a sub-alliance of Brotherhood entered the conflict against all guilds at war with AA forcing The Empire into war with another top 10 guild without the CABAL’s support.

Following two weeks of intense fighting The Bloodpact guilds pulled a punch condemned by almost every guild in the Astroverse. The guild, Section 31 (\31/) was allowed to leave the war with a white peace earlier in the conflict. With their new ally USP they re-entered the war but choosing only to declare war on the Vilani Empire. These declarations came hours after the beginning of attacks. The Emperor, seeing the threat to the Vilani control of the A30-32 galaxies activated its diplomatic treaties and gave USP and \31/ more than they expected. They were now at war with the full strength of the CABAL.

Following a week of full bloody war USP and \31/ surrendered to the CABAL, the first guilds to ever be forced to surrender in the history of the alliance. Soon after this surrender the war with the Bloodpact began to rundown as war weariness took hold. The war was eventually ended in a white peace.giant_robot_by_ptitvinc

Days before the opening of the war the Vilani Empire expanded into two guilds. The Academy of Vland (~AoV~)was formed as The Empire's training guild by its first headmaster Kdubb. Kdubb was later replaced by the Academies long time leader. Omen. Due to the war their link to The Empire was kept secret and movement between the guilds was barred. For this reason the guild grew a stronger sense of independence from The Empire than the Emperor had first envisioned but still functions are 'The grand Academy of the Stars to this day.

Following the conclusion of the war ~AoV~ relationship with The Empire was unveiled to the universe. An open invisitation was offered by the Emperor to ex-leaders and older players who wanted to settle down away from war to teach in a peaceful guild. Omen also officially entered the Vilani Council.

With the conclusion of the war the Vilani Victory parade was started, dozens of Vilani members crossing the galaxy showing our solidarity by passing through each and every Vilani galaxy. However jubilant the victory was for The Empire, the final realisation of the CABAL’s dreams, sadness was brought to The Empires planets.

The Emperor, Lucan tired by the war announced he was abdicating the throne in the near future. Ceremonies were held across loyal systems for the Emperor and wishing luck to his coming successor the Piime Minister, Earthsphere Alliance.

None the less at the passing of 20 centuries (200 days) of the Vilani Empire, war and change may still lie upon the horizon. The Empires loyal subjects must always stand guard to protect her from attack but most importantly while others have fallen Vilani has remained true to its founding principles and still today can hold its head up high in this universe of ours.

Hail to the emperor. Hail to Vilani. Vilani is eternal.
