The Chronicles of Ahab - The Eyes of a Child
Our brave pilots fell with little chance of survival, I remember the dark sky was peppered with the flashes of their broken ships burning up as they fell through the atmosphere. My uncle was a fleet commander, he died in the first attacks on the outer worlds commanding the defensive fleet which had fought valiantly to save our people.
When the bombing came it was sudden and merciless, whole cities were destroyed. Our village was close to Capital City and our home was destroyed (that is the last day i saw my parents).
A few brave souls put together a small fleet. The fleet consisted of 16 cruisers with a small squadron of fighters and an outpost ship (which my grandmother put me on with my sister). The evacuation fleet narrowly escaped through a newly discovered technology called a jump gate (which allowed our ships to travel between galaxies) into the unknown. I later learned 6 of the 16 cruisers were destroyed protecting our escape.
The journey was long, our people had never left the galaxy before, it was a frightening three month's of travel. Not all survived the long journey, some began to fall ill, some died, my sister one of them. Now I had lost everyone and everything i knew.
Finally the fleet reached it's destination, it felt strange, the ship not moving, no longer hearing the low hum of the engines or feeling the sensation of moving after such a long journey.
A new world was found and our new leader Ahab was a kind, strong willed man. He always knew what to say to people, before long he had gained our people membership within a guild of worlds and expanded our territories.
Ahab vowed to free our homeworld from occupation of the tyrants SPORK, every man, woman and child was given a task to aid in the freedom of the people we left behind.
The SPORK were a tyranical breed of creature, hell bent on total domination of the universe, tearing through
empire after empire, leaving nought but shattered worlds and broken civilisations in their wake.
After many months, with little support from the guild of worlds, Ahab heard word of another guild of worlds called the Brotherhood of warriors [BoW] that actively trained its members how to defend their worlds, how to fight and grow in strength with minimal fleet losses. Our fleets became mighty and our defences became near impenetrable allowing for the door to open on a wealth of trade.
Suddenly came word that all our people had awaited, SPORK had been crushed by the mighty guild of Armada [DREAD] the founders of the Brotherhood.
Our home was free, at last!
I travelled home to see if any of my friends had survived the occupation. When i arrived, i was horrified, look at what they had done to our once glorious homeworld. Millions had been murdered in daily piliages, the once fertile land had become a wasteland, animal's that we once kept as pets had gone wild after their owners had long gone.
People at first were fearful of us, then i found my childhood best friend, I didn't recognise her at first, she was
ghostly white, thin from near starvation and scarred from injuries inflicted during the occupation.
It took time for the people to realize the horror was over. Ahab arrived some days later and he spoke publicly to the people. Tear's steamed from his eye's but he kept his voice even, he vowed never to allow any occupation to happen again!
Work began straight away on construction of huge planetary defenses that enveloped each world in powerful shielding and orbital defenses, allowing for our economies to soar. Large ships were constructed and placed on guard at each world, defending trade routes with other guilds and colonies. Ahab became a trusted member of the Brotherhood, and began to oversee the fleets and defenses of other guild members. He co-ordinated strikes on enemy guilds, training other members helping to protect them.
Then one day word came, SPORK were back!
Aprehenssion and fear once again filled the eyes and hearts of our people, calls for war were heard from many! But Ahab spoke to the poeple, announcing that a pact of non aggression with all members of the guild had been made.
He said that they had reformed with new leadership, a good man named Bob. But the people were still scheptical and kept their new allies at a distance. Awaiting the day that they would strike again.
