A Wolf In Monkeys Clothing

05_wolfAll this waiting around was getting on his nerves. And he was bored. He wondered how alert the enemy was and decided to test them a bit...with a Levi!! He knew the enemy was not paying as much attention to their blob fleets at this time of day. His buddy had snuck a Levi in under their noses into the same region as their blob and he had managed to hit a fleet of 850 FCs and one of 11k FT's, 76 Recs and 28 FCs.

Stealth. That was the key. He breathed a sigh of relief as his Levi landed on the JG in the same region as the enemy blob with no attack or enemy fleet movement in his direction. Maybe they hadn't noticed him.

So far, so good. The JG he was using was not really a high level, but it was close enough to make the trip to the wormhole controlled by the enemy fairly short. Now all he needed was one more trick, and he crossed his fingers that it would work...

"Let me see if I can pull this off! " He didn't dare tell his plans to the rest of the guild, as spies were keeping their eyes out and he knew it. But he couldn't resist a little brag, just to get his mates' attention: "I will be back, I'm going to derb something!" He quietly dropped guild and made some quick camouflage changes. Now to move the Levi. He held his breath almost the entire trip to the enemy blob. He could hardly believe his luck when he landed, but he didn't waste any time. The almost 8 billion credit floating target, made up of literally hundreds of players' individual fleets meant he was spoiled for choice. But he had done some work ahead of time and knew the targets he was most interested in. First up: 84 FC's loaded with FT's and some Cruiser and Destroyer cove -- it didn't go down, but he had done some major damage. He made repairs and tried his luck on a 62k pure FT fleet, but he wasn't as happy with the ratios. Again he made repairs and took a second shot on the FC fleet, and repeated the actions so that soon it was all derbs. He moved on to the next target, a Frigate fleet, then another FC fleet. He fell into a smooth rhythm; select a target, attack, repair, repeat. It was easier than he thought it would be.

He glanced up at the top of the screen to see his name on the crawl. Well now it was going to get trickier. He chuckled to himself, knowing that there would be chaos in the common rooms as the enemy guild members noticed they were being attacked by one that seemed to be their own. The less experienced players would be confused, not knowing where to look or if they could even attack a guild mate. But he knew that others would catch on soon enough.

He kept up his attack pattern...Whoa, someone was fighting back now. Dang! It was the FT fleet he hadn't taken out on his second hit. He made a mental note for next time as the FT fleet owner was from a different guild than the disguise he was wearing. He should have stuck to the same guild as it would have been a bit better cover. Hitting two different guilds meant they could each communicate with their own members and increased the changes of his getting caught out sooner. Oh well, he'd had a good 6 minutes of time to do some real damage. Now he repaired and went after another fleet, letting the FT fleet owner continue to throw himself at the Levi in futile frustration. Now, however, he had to make sure he repaired every time so that the damage was not too great thus ruining his ratios. Good thing he had saved up a lot of creds for the repairs as Levi repairs were not cheap.

Another minute and it was over. His fully repaired Levi was taken down by a fleet with 4 levis. Well it had been fun while it lasted, and he knew it had gone even better than he had expected. He dropped his camouflage and applied back to the Attack guild. His lone Levi made or survived 21 hits, with a total of 727k in damage to enemy fleets. It had cost him a lot of creds, but the adrenalin rush was worth it. Back in the Attack guild, he started posting his BR's, to the appreciative comments of his mates: "Epic!" "Impressive" " Love your work!"

It had been a very good day! The PM's came in from his mates in his Home guild, and he was asked to return there to give a debriefing. There might even be a promotion in it for him! As he waited to be accepted into his
Home guild and tell his tale of subterfuge and glory, a new plan was forming about how to make the next stealth attack...
