Those Other Times
Day 1:
A home. A planet.I’m chief engineer and overseer for this expedition…
We arrived here by outpost ship. The trip took its toll on some of us but enough of us made it to make a new home.
Day 7:
Trouble at the fields, which is to say we have, ran out of space. The emperor paid for the next few terraformer devices but eventually we are going run up too much cost for space.Tomorrow when the terraformer is built we will start building more shipyards.
Day 15:
The shipyards are running smooth and the emperor commissioned 5 more. It’ll be a huge structure and we should be making cruisers when we are finished. We started trading with other planets in other empires, we send metal as we have a lot left over after building all we need. They trade crystals to us. It is a good trade and the ships we send always return with wonderful stories of all they have seen on their travels.
Day 67:
Today we got our defensive fleet out into orbit, it was an amazing sight and I’m sorry you weren’t here to see it.
10000 Fighters
500 cruisers.
We thought we were invincible with this fleet, no one would dare come within 5000 dist of us. We were wrong…
Day 68:
Fleet was only out one day, celebrations going long into the early hours of the morning and then it happened…
There was little warning as the incoming fleet launched from a system we couldn’t see and later we found out they used a Jump gate, speeding them up so much, 1000% faster than normal.
Our rings and shield held for the first round, 10000 heavy cruisers bearing down on our homes, flinging fire and ash into the atmosphere. The sky went black for the battle, lights off in every city, every home. Our fleet rushed out to meet them on the orbit of a planet nearby hoping to make them weak enough that our shields and rings could take them.
The day was ending and still the fighting went on.A huge debris field was beginning to form, our fleet making up most of it.We were building heavy bombers as fast as we could but we had to do it in secret so production was slowed.Day 69:The enemy commander flew down to our city and told us we would have to pay him ¼ of everything going in and out of the planet.
We sent the emperor our message and the battle report….no reply, no sending of fleet.
Day 109:
We are free from our empire in just two hours. We still have an occupier but that is just part of a normal daily routine. We stopped paying our emperor after just 4 days. Made work a little easier but I’m not sure I like it.
Day 110: The was a huge explosion just before everyone was due to awake, I checked my scanners to see what was outside…it was our emperor, he had returned after all this time.We went outside and cheered as the battle raged, Heavy bombers from our side crushing the weak occupying fleet the other left behind. We were so happy everyone starting up production of ships and we mined ore faster then ever.
Day 200:
We learned from our mistakes, we have 6 trade routes running and 3 dreadnoughts protecting us, sometimes a scout or two will land but we blast them off. Life is good.
Day 245:
Joined a guild, emperors even more powerful than we could ever wish to be are protecting us from everyone else.
Day 247:
Started a friendly war with another guild, things were going well until we lost contact with the main production planets, then the research planets.Suddenly the radio went silent, no talk of tomorrow, no laughing commanders nothing… then we plugged the radio back in.
Day 300:
Wars over by a day now, we have to rebuild our entire fleet, at least no one was farmed during the war.
Day 773:
473 days without war…
